The ecological crisis we're having today is mainly caused by human beings. There are two primary views, the one being that it's due to the ignorance of the public, the other that we've been hoodwinked by big businesses. Either way, average people do a lot of wasting, and abusing of natural resources. People are, naturally, reliant for their information on the big corporations, and what they say more often than not goes unquestioned. The masses are not doomed as mere spectators, however, because despite the destructive effects of global warming, they still have it within their power to bring down the ill-effects felt by the environment.
By carrying out many of the green movement's ideas, much progress can be made. The only solution to the environmental problems that will be effective is going green. Alas, all the existing damage cannot be overturned, but at least further harm can be stopped and the impending catastrophe largely deflected. If the masses adopt the use of environmentally friendly products and green ways of doing things, they can stop the crisis from degenerating further. A couple of pre-requisites exist that must be fulfilled before we can have a less polluted, more sustainable earth.
The list includes utilization of green waste, avoiding meat, buying locally grown food and ditching the old "use it, throw it away" mindset. Nearly everyone could do all of those things by just deciding to do them. Taking the required steps to preserve water and power can restore balance to the planet. The most important element causing the environmental fix we're in is the large amounts of carbon dioxide that have been spewed into the atmosphere. The situation is exacerbated by the ongoing proliferation of mechanized means of production, in factories and on farms, all dependent on fuel or electrical energy and adding to the carbon emissions problem.
Recent disasters such as tsunamis, flooding, earthquakes, strange extremes of atmospheric condition and dearths in food and water can all be associated with the current ecological crisis. The crisis has developed to the extent where only decisive, strong steps can be of any benefit. One of the most essential things for today is to convince the masses to live green. To make a big impact on the world overall, a start should be made, and that is with minor things. The media has a critical role to play in making the public aware of the importance of taking on green lifestyles, even if only in small measures.
Since this might be the last method that can be used, it is up to every individual to assume some responsibility by living wisely. To keep the ecological problem from ruining everything, it is time to bring back the lost scruples concerning the environment. If individuals are reluctant to face facts and do their part in fixing the environment, how much time does the world have? The outlook for our offspring is a distressing one, if individuals continue along the path set by the present generation.
